How LinkedIn engagement rate works
Use LinkedIn's formula
LinkedIn Page analytics divides interactions (clicks, reactions, comments and reposts) by impressions. With the same formula, your number matches what the client sees in LinkedIn.
Pages and profiles differ
Company Pages show clicks and an engagement rate. Personal profiles show impressions, members reached, reactions, comments and reposts, but no clicks and no rate: leave clicks at 0.
Impressions, not members reached
Impressions count every time the post was shown; members reached counts each person once. LinkedIn's rate divides by impressions, so use impressions to match it.
Example: “A Company Page post with 1,920 impressions, 38 clicks, 41 reactions, 6 comments and 3 reposts” = 4.58%, the figure LinkedIn Page analytics shows

Every LinkedIn number, and where to find it
What each number means, where LinkedIn shows it, and whether its engagement rate counts it.
| Number | Where LinkedIn shows it | In LinkedIn's rate |
|---|---|---|
| Impressions | Page: Analytics > Content. Profile: the post's analytics | Divide by it |
| Members reached | Both: the post's analytics (each member counted once) | Not used |
| Clicks | Company Pages only: Analytics > Content | Counted |
| Reactions | Under the post, and in its analytics | Counted |
| Comments | Under the post, and in its analytics | Counted |
| Reposts | Under the post, and in its analytics | Counted |
| Followers | The Page or profile | Divide by it only for a public, quick comparison |
LinkedIn defines engagement rate as interactions per impression, where interactions are clicks, reactions, comments and reposts. Clicks are clicks on the post, your Page name or logo; they never include the reactions, comments or reposts themselves.
