How to size images for Threads
3:4 fills the feed
The Threads app shows images in 3:4. A 1440 × 1920 photo takes the full slot without bars.
API limits: 1440 wide, 8 MB
Threads' publishing API takes JPEG or PNG, 320 to 1440 pixels wide, up to 8 MB, which is what scheduling tools use.
Carousels of up to 20
A post can carry a carousel of 2 to 20 images or videos. Keep every image the same ratio.
Example: “A 4,032 × 3,024 photo for a Threads post” = a 2,268 × 3,024 crop, saved at 1,440 × 1,920
Sizes checked on October 10, 2026, against Meta's Threads API docs.
