You can type one, but captions are not clickable for most accounts, so nobody can tap it. Tag the link in your bio or in a Story link sticker instead.

Instagram links are clickable in the bio and in Story link stickers, not in captions: tag each one here so GA4 shows which one sent the visit.

Your tagged links
GA4: Organic SocialPaste a link to see it tagged for each network.
Let every link tag itself
Mydrop adds your UTM tags to every link in a caption while a campaign runs, and can shorten the link to count clicks.
Your links stay in your browser. Nothing is sent or saved.
How to tag Instagram links
Captions are not clickable
A link typed in an Instagram caption is plain text (Meta is testing clickable caption links for some Meta Verified accounts since March 2026). Put tagged links in the bio and in Story link stickers.
One tag per placement
The bio holds up to 5 links. Give each bio link and each Story sticker its own utm_content, such as bio-1 or story-sticker, to see which one works.
GA4 knows Instagram
instagram is on GA4's list of social sites, so tagged visits land in Organic Social with utm_medium=social, and in Paid Social with a paid medium.
Example: The first link in an Instagram bio, campaign "Spring sale" = https://example.com/spring?utm_source=instagram&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=spring-sale&utm_content=bio-1
Link rules checked on October 11, 2026, against Instagram's help and announcements.

Where links work on Instagram, and how to tag them
Every place a link can sit on Instagram, whether people can tap it, and the tag to give it.
| Where the link sits | Clickable? | Tag to add |
|---|---|---|
| Bio links (up to 5) | Clickable | utm_content=bio-1 to bio-5 |
| Story link sticker | Clickable | utm_content=story-sticker |
| Post and Reel captions | Not clickable | Point to the bio: "link in bio" |
| Comments | Not reliably clickable | Do not rely on them |
| Ads | Clickable | utm_medium=paid-social |
Instagram opens outside links through its own l.instagram.com redirect. Tag the destination link itself; the UTM tags travel with it.

Tag each bio link with utm_source=instagram, utm_medium=social, your campaign, and its own utm_content (bio-1, bio-2). GA4 then shows each one separately.
instagram, in lowercase. It is on GA4's list of social sites and it is the source Mydrop's campaigns write, so all your Instagram visits report together.
Build the link here, then paste it into the Story's link sticker. Give it utm_content=story-sticker (or the Story's topic) so you can tell Stories from the bio.
