How to plan a month of social media

Pick 3 to 5 content pillars

Rotate a few recurring themes, such as tips, behind the scenes, product and community. The month gets variety without a blank page every day.

Choose days you can keep

On Mydrop, every weekday sat within 2% of the account's typical post. A rhythm the team can hold matters more than the perfect day.

Keep the night empty

Posts published between midnight and 6 am earned 17% less on Mydrop, and 36% less on Instagram. Check scheduled slots for 2 am posts.

Example: Monday, Wednesday and Friday on Instagram and LinkedIn in November 2026 = 13 posts, 26 rows in the Mydrop CSV

Timing data from posts on accounts connected to Mydrop, 180 days to September 17, 2026. Page checked on October 10, 2026.

Mydrop data

When should you post? Any time but the night.

We scored 4,848 posts on accounts connected to Mydrop against each account's typical post, over 180 days to September 2026, in each workspace's own time zone.

Engagement vs the account's typical post

Morning, 6 am to noon1,684 posts±0%
Afternoon, noon to 6 pm2,162 posts±0%
Evening, 6 pm to midnight863 posts±0%
Night, midnight to 6 am139 posts−17%
  • Morning, afternoon and evening posts did the same. Only the night slot fell behind, by 17%.
  • On Instagram the night cost more: 36% below the account's typical post (90 posts).
  • Every weekday sat within 2% of the typical post. Plan days around your team, not around a chart.

Download the Mydrop CSV, then in Mydrop open Create, Bulk Posts, CSV / Spreadsheet, and drop the file. Each row becomes a post on its network, as a draft, sent for approval or scheduled, and you can change accounts, captions and media before you launch.

Yes. Download the spreadsheet CSV and open it in Excel, or in Google Sheets with File, Import.

No weekday wins across accounts: on Mydrop every weekday sat within 2% of the account's typical post. The night does lose: posts between midnight and 6 am earned 17% less.

As many as the team can keep every week. On Mydrop, profiles posting 1 to 3 times a week had a higher median engagement rate than profiles posting 7 or more, but smaller accounts post less, so that is a correlation, not a rule.

Three to five recurring themes a brand posts about, such as tips, behind the scenes, product and community. Rotating them keeps the feed varied and makes planning faster.
