No. X counts every link as 23 characters, however long it is, so the tags are free.

Free X (Twitter) UTM builder
Every link in an X post counts as 23 characters, whatever its length, so tag it fully here: GA4 then shows which X post sent each visit.

Your tagged links
GA4: Organic SocialPaste a link to see it tagged for each network.
Let every link tag itself
Mydrop adds your UTM tags to every link in a caption while a campaign runs, and can shorten the link to count clicks.
Your links stay in your browser. Nothing is sent or saved.
How to tag X (Twitter) links
Tags cost nothing on X
X wraps every link in t.co and counts it as 23 characters, so a long tagged link takes no more room than a short one.
Always add utm_medium=social
GA4's list of social sites has twitter and t.co but not x. With utm_medium=social, a visit tagged utm_source=x still lands in Organic Social.
For ads, use twitter
GA4 files Paid Social only when the source is on its social list. For X ads, use utm_source=twitter with a paid medium; for posts, x is fine.
Example: An X post linking to a product page = https://example.com/new?utm_source=x&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=launch
Link rules checked on October 11, 2026, against X's help and GA4's source list.
Reference
Where links work on X, and how to tag them
Every place a link can sit on X, whether people can click it, and the tag to give it.
| Where the link sits | Clickable? | Tag to add |
|---|---|---|
| Posts | Clickable, shown through t.co | utm_medium=social |
| Replies | Clickable | utm_content=reply |
| Bio website | Clickable | utm_content=bio |
| Ads | Clickable | utm_source=twitter, utm_medium=paid-social |
Mydrop's campaigns write utm_source=x for X. If your reports already use twitter, keep twitter: what matters is using one name everywhere.
Tagged for you
X links, tagged automatically by Mydrop
Set the tags once on a campaign: Mydrop adds them to every link in your X captions while it runs, with x as the source, and never overwrites tags a link already has.

GA4 files an untagged click from t.co under Organic Social, but it cannot tell which post or campaign sent it. The tags add the campaign, the post and the client.
