How to tag YouTube links
Long videos, not Shorts
Links are clickable in long-form descriptions and comments (the channel needs advanced features on). Since August 2023 they are not clickable in Shorts descriptions or comments.
One tag per video
Put the video in utm_content, such as utm_content=video-42, so GA4 shows which video sent each visit, not just YouTube.
Social or video channel
GA4 lists youtube as a video site. With utm_medium=social, visits land in Organic Social; with another medium, in Organic Video. Pick one and keep it.
Example: The first link in a video description = https://example.com/guide?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=tutorials&utm_content=video-42
