One Post into 12 Social Assets in 90 Minutes: The Asset Map

A timed worksheet that turns one blog post or long caption into 12 ready-to-schedule assets, with minutes per asset and the order to make them.

Laptop on a desk with floating like and heart icons above the screen

Pick your best-performing long post, set a 90-minute timer, and follow the asset map below. You finish with 12 assets: 3 text posts, 3 images, 3 short videos or carousels, 2 stories and 1 email or link-in-bio update.

TLDR: Make the assets in order of effort, text first and video last. Each one has a time budget. If a piece runs over, cut it, do not stretch the session.

A 15-pieces-in-30-minutes approach is a quick sketch. This one is a full build: finished, designed, captioned and scheduled in a single sitting.

Run the 12-asset map minute by minute

Block Asset Minutes
1 Pull 5 key points from the source 5
2 3 text posts, one point each 15
3 1 quote image from the best line 8
4 1 stat or number graphic 8
5 1 checklist image 8
6 1 carousel, one point per slide 15
7 1 how-to carousel from the steps 12
8 2 short videos or screen recordings 10
9 2 story frames with a poll or question 5
10 1 email or link-in-bio update 4

That adds up to about 90 minutes with a little room to spare. Don't move block 1: those points drive every other asset.

Choose a source that can feed 12 pieces

The best sources have a spine. Look for:

  • A numbered list with 5 or more points.
  • A process with steps.
  • A bold claim with 3 proofs.
  • A recorded talk you already transcribed.

Weak sources are news reactions and opinions with one point. They give you two or three assets, not twelve.

Write once, adapt many times

For the three text posts, change the opening line, not the idea. One version starts with the number, one with the problem, one with the result. That stops it feeling like you're reposting the same thing, and gives you a clean A/B read after a week.

For carousels, one point per slide with six words or fewer per headline. The numbers back this up: across accounts connected to Mydrop's data, carousels ran 10% above an account's typical post, so spend your design time on those two.

Use a template and a caption bank

Set up a Canva template in your brand colours and reuse it for every image. Mydrop connects to Canva, so a design can go from the template to a scheduled post without a download step.

Keep a caption bank: a note with your usual call to action, hashtags and link. You paste, edit one line and move on. AI captions can draft each variation from the key points, and you tidy the voice.

Schedule the batch in one pass

Making 12 assets and posting them one by one defeats the purpose. Use bulk creation to load all 12 at once, then spread them across two to three weeks in your calendar. A good order is text, image, carousel, video, then repeat, so no two formats of the same idea sit side by side.

What to do when the timer runs out

Stop. A half-polished asset is better than a rushed one posted late at night. Move the unfinished pieces to a "second session" list and run a 30-minute follow-up later in the week.

If you consistently run long, the source is usually the problem. A post with too many ideas forces you to choose points on the fly, and the choosing eats the time. Trim the source to five clear points before the session starts, and the blocks fit.

Keep a record of the minutes each block really took. After three sessions you can adjust the table to your own pace and promise yourself a realistic finish time.

Your first 90-minute asset session

  1. Choose the post that earned the most saves or comments in the last 90 days.
  2. Block out 90 minutes with your phone away.
  3. Follow the map, top to bottom.
  4. Schedule everything before you close the laptop.

After the first session, note which asset type took longest. Cut or batch that one next time and you'll drop under 75 minutes.

FAQ

Quick answers

A post with a clear claim, a list, or a how-to. Anything with 3 to 5 separable points gives you the most pieces.

No. Spread them over two to three weeks so each piece gets its own moment and the audience does not see the same idea 12 times in a row.

No. Start from a template in Canva and keep the same fonts and colours across pieces. The Mydrop Canva integration lets you pull designs straight into a post.

Next step

Stop coordinating around the work

If your team spends more time chasing approvals, assets, and publish details than creating better posts, the problem is probably not your people. It is the workflow around them. Mydrop brings planning, review, scheduling, and performance into one calmer operating system.

Managing 14+ social platforms felt like a 2 a.m. nightmare until Mydrop. The AI brand-voice mapping is scary accurate, and the client approval portal saved me easily 15 hours this week alone. It's the ultimate set-and-forget workspace for busy agencies.
A true automation tool for scheduling (and creating) social media content! It has saved me over 20 hours of work already in just my first couple weeks. A true game-changer for anyone in business, big or small!
Finally tried Mydrop on a test client and the white-label portal on a custom domain actually looks legit, no Mydrop branding sneaking in. The OAuth setup saved me from the usual “what's my password” back-and-forth.
Absolute game-changer. Mydrop completely automated my content workflow. The scheduling is flawless, it actually feels intuitive, and it saved me 10+ hours in my very first week. Best decision I've made for my socials!
