Bring your team feedback and content decisions together in one place with Mydrop's Workspace Conversations feature. This tutorial shows you how to find the Conversations tab, set up channels, and use @mentions to keep everyone in the loop. Follow these steps and you'll have a central hub where your team can discuss specific post drafts and share media assets right alongside your social media workflows. By the end, you'll have a working conversation space that does away with external messaging tools and keeps every bit of project feedback in one place for the whole team.
Mydrop data, September 2026: how long client sign-off actually takes, measured on posts that carry both a submitted-for-approval and an approved timestamp. Treat it as directional.
| Measure | Value |
|---|---|
| Fastest quarter of posts | under 0.6 hours |
| Median time to approval | 6 hours |
| Slowest quarter of posts | over 66.9 hours |
| Approved within 24 hours | 66% of posts |
The gap between the median and the slowest quarter is where scope leaks. A post sitting more than 66.9 hours in review is usually a post being redesigned in the comments, and that is the round nobody scoped.
Before you start
Before you use the Conversations feature for team feedback, check that your workspace is set up properly. First, look at where you are in Mydrop. Use the Workspace Switcher at the top of the screen to confirm you're in the right workspace for the brand or project you're managing. Every conversation and channel belongs to a single workspace, so posting in the wrong one means the people you're trying to reach won't see your messages.
Next, make sure your teammates have the access they need. Go to Workspace Settings and check the member list. Only people who've been invited and accepted their invitation will show up as options for @mentions or channel participation. If someone's missing, hit the Invite Members button to send them an email invitation. Finally, have your feedback and media files ready for the post you want to discuss. Get your notes and assets together first and you'll breeze through setup quickly and accurately.
Step 1: Open the Conversations feature
The first step to bringing your team collaboration together is to head to the messaging area of the app. Find the main navigation menu on the left of your Mydrop dashboard. Look for the sidebar item labelled "Conversations" and click it to open the interface.
As the page loads, you might see a brief loading label or a status message such as common.loading while it pulls in your channel history. Once the interface is up, take a look at the layout. The left sidebar holds your conversation list, including active workspace channels and direct messages with other members. The middle of the screen is where your message history and active discussions appear. If you haven't picked a conversation yet, this area might show a generic "no messages" title or some text asking you to choose a member or channel. Check that you can see your own initials or profile picture in the corner of the window to confirm you're logged in properly.
Step 2: Create a new workspace channel
Once you've opened the Conversations tab, you need a dedicated space for your team feedback. If there's already a suitable channel for your project, just pick it from the sidebar list. To create a new space, find and click the button labelled "New Channel" at the top of the channel sidebar.
A settings window will pop up where you can enter the details for your new channel. Type a descriptive name that makes its purpose obvious, like "Social Media Draft Reviews" or "Campaign Assets." Choose whether the channel should be open to everyone in the workspace or limited to a specific group. Once you've entered the name and picked your visibility settings, click save to finish creating it.
Your new channel will now appear in the sidebar list. Click its name to make it your active conversation. You'll know it worked when the channel name shows at the top of the main message area. The workspace is now ready for you to start posting feedback and sharing content with your team.
Step 1: Open the feature
Opening the Conversations feature gives you access to the dedicated collaboration hub inside your Mydrop workspace. This is the main place for team discussions and feedback.
Find the navigation sidebar. Look at the left side of the Mydrop interface where the main menu icons sit. This sidebar holds links to your social calendar, profile management, and automation tools.
Click the Conversations menu item. Find the icon or text label for Conversations, usually near the bottom of the navigation list. When you click it, the main workspace area refreshes to show the conversation interface.
Watch the loading process. As the feature opens, you might see a loading label in the middle of the screen. That means Mydrop is fetching your latest message history and channel list from the server. Your initials, or those of other workspace members, may show as placeholder icons during this brief sync.
Get to know the layout. Once the feature has loaded, the screen splits into two main sections. The left section is a narrow sidebar listing all existing workspace channels and direct messages. The right section is the larger message pane where individual conversations and shared media assets appear.
Recognise the empty state. If you're using this feature for the first time in a new workspace, the message pane will show a specific message saying there are no messages yet. You'll see a title and text label confirming that the workspace conversation history is currently empty and waiting for your first post or channel.
Check your identity. Look at the bottom of the sidebar or the top corner of the message pane. You should see a small circle with your initials. Mydrop uses these initials to identify you in the chat and to show who's currently active in the workspace.
Step 2: Set up the basics
Setting up the basics means creating a dedicated space for your team to talk. You can go for broad workspace channels or private direct messages, depending on the kind of feedback you need to gather.
Find the new channel option. Head to the top of the sidebar list in the Conversations tab. Click the button labelled New Channel. This opens a settings window where you'll define the scope of your new discussion area.
Pick the conversation type. In the settings window, Mydrop gives you two main choices. You can create a workspace channel, which everyone in the current workspace can access, or start a single user conversation for direct, private feedback with one specific teammate.
Name your channel. If you chose a workspace channel, type a clear, descriptive name into the text field. Use names that reflect the project or the kind of content you'll discuss, like "Q4 Campaign Feedback" or "Video Asset Reviews." That helps teammates spot the right channel in their sidebar list.
Use the invite members button. To add colleagues to the conversation, click the Invite Members button. This shows a list of everyone who has access to your current workspace. You can scroll through the list or use the search box to find specific teammates by name.
Select participants from the list. Click the names of the teammates you want in the conversation. As you pick people, their names appear in the invited list, often alongside their profile initials. That way you can check you've included everyone you need for the content decision at hand.
Check permission levels. As you add members, look at the permission labels next to their names. Mydrop shows whether someone is an Admin or a Member. Admins can usually manage channel settings, while Members focus on sending and replying to messages. Confirming these levels makes sure the right people have the control they need over the conversation.
Finish the setup. Click the confirm or create button to set up the channel. Once it's created, the new channel name appears in your sidebar list. The main message pane updates to show the new, empty conversation area where you can start typing your first message to the team.
Check the channel visibility. Look at the sidebar to make sure the new channel name is visible and spelled correctly. If you created a direct message, the teammate's name should appear in the "Direct Messages" or "Single User" section of the sidebar. Seeing the name in the list confirms the setup worked and the channel is ready to use.
Step 3: Add the content or settings
Adding content to a conversation means typing text, tagging specific team members, and uploading relevant media files. That way your feedback reaches the right person and every asset you need is there for review, right in the context of the discussion.
- Find the message input field. It's the rectangular box at the bottom of the conversation window. It often holds a default prompt or placeholder showing where to type.
- Enter your message. Type your feedback or instructions straight into the input field. Avoid long paragraphs and use line breaks where it helps.
- Use the "@" mention feature. To notify a specific teammate, type the "@" symbol followed straight away by the first few letters of their name. As you type, a list of workspace members appears above the input area.
- Select the member. Click the name of the person you want to tag. Once selected, the name is highlighted in the text field. That makes sure they get a specific notification about your message.
- Attach files for review. Find the attachment icon near the text field. Click it to open your device's file browser. Choose the image, document, or video file you want the team to review.
- Watch the upload progress. While the file uploads, Mydrop may show a loading label or a progress indicator. Wait for it to finish before you try to send the message.
- Check the file status. If the upload fails or the file is moved mid-process, you might see a "file unavailable" message. If that happens, remove the attachment and try uploading it again from its original location.
- Send your message. Once your text is ready and files are attached, click the send icon on the right of the input box. The message will appear at the bottom of the conversation history.
Checklist for content setup:
- The text you typed is visible in the chat feed.
- Teammate names are highlighted, confirming the mention worked.
- Attached images or documents show a preview or a file icon.
- Your name and initials appear correctly next to the message.
Step 4: Review the workflow
Reviewing the workflow means managing active discussions through threads, reactions, and message edits. It keeps the conversation tidy and makes sure feedback stays accurate over time.
- Organise feedback with threaded replies. Instead of sending a new message into the main channel for every comment, hover over a teammate's message and click the "Reply" icon.
- Use the thread sidebar. Clicking the "Reply" icon opens a dedicated side panel. Type your response in the thread input field and click send. That keeps sub-discussions from cluttering the main workspace feed.
- Give quick reactions. Hover over a message and click the thumbs-up icon. It lets you acknowledge a comment or approve a suggestion without typing a full response.
- Check reaction counts. A small counter appears next to the thumbs-up icon once a reaction is added. If several team members react, the count goes up to show the total number of responses.
- Edit sent messages. If you need to fix a typo or update your feedback, hover over your sent message and click the "Edit" icon. That opens the message text for changes.
- Check the edit status. After you save your changes, an "edited" label appears next to the message timestamp. It tells the team the original content has been updated.
- Remove messages. If a message is no longer relevant or went to the wrong channel, click the trash icon. Confirm the action to remove the message from the workspace history.
- Watch timestamps and initials. Check the relative time next to each message to see when it was sent, like "just now" or "5 minutes ago". Member initials appear in coloured circles to help you spot the sender.
- Close the thread view. When you're done with a specific sub-discussion, click the "close" icon at the top of the side panel to return to the full conversation view.
Checklist for workflow review:
- Threaded replies appear nested under the original message.
- The thumbs-up icon shows an updated count after you click it.
- Edited messages display the "edited" label for transparency.
- Deleted messages no longer appear in the channel list.
Troubleshooting and next steps
If you run into issues while collaborating in the Conversations tab, check your workspace settings and user permissions. Most common errors come down to access levels or media availability. Use these steps to clear technical hurdles and move on to more advanced Mydrop workflows.
Check your permission level if you can't view a specific channel. Teammates are given roles such as Admin or Member within each workspace. If a channel is missing from your sidebar, go to Workspace Settings and confirm your account has been added to the right team. An Admin has to grant you access before you can view or join private workspace channels.
Fix the file unavailable error by re-uploading the media asset. This error shows up when the link to a shared file is broken or the source has been moved. To sort it, find the message with the error and click the trash icon to delete it. Click the attachment icon in the message field to upload the file again from your device or your connected Google Drive. That brings the preview back for everyone in the thread.
Sort out @mention issues by checking user status. If a teammate's name doesn't appear after you type the @ symbol, they may not be a member of your current workspace. Switch to the Workspace Settings tab to check the member list. If the person's missing, send a fresh invitation to their email address. Once they accept and join the workspace, their name will show up in the mention list automatically.
Fix messages in the wrong place with the message management tools. If you accidentally post general feedback in a specific post thread, or the other way round, move the content to keep things tidy. Click the trash icon on the incorrect message to remove it from view. Go to the right channel or post preview and type the message again. If you only need to fix a typo, click the edit icon to change the text directly. An edited label will appear to let the team know the message was changed.
Manage the loading state if the conversation interface doesn't fill in. If you see a loading label that won't go away, check your internet connection and refresh the browser page. That makes sure your message history and member initials sync with the Mydrop servers. If a team member's initials don't display correctly, wait for the interface to finish fetching the member profile data.
Once you've got the basics of workspace conversations down, move on to these next steps to bring your team workflows even closer together:
Link feedback with Calendar notes. When your team reaches a decision in a conversation, go to the Calendar tab. Create a new note on the relevant date to sum up the final decision. That keeps the big-picture strategy visible to everyone looking at the publishing schedule.
Check brand alignment in Profiles. Use the Profiles tab to make sure the conversation involves the right social accounts. If you're discussing a post for a specific brand, check that the matching profile is active in your current workspace group.
Use the Workspace Switcher for multi-brand management. If you manage several clients, use the switcher to move between different conversation hubs. Each workspace keeps its own message history and member lists, so feedback doesn't leak across projects.
Conclusion
Using Workspace Conversations in Mydrop keeps your team feedback right next to your social media content. Set up channels, use @mentions, and manage threaded replies, and you can leave external messaging apps behind. This central approach means every content decision is documented and open to everyone in the workspace. Keep an eye on your threads and use reactions to keep your production workflow moving smoothly.
