Tracking team response quality takes five numbers and one habit: a weekly read of 10 real threads. The numbers tell you how fast the team answers. The read tells you whether the answers were any good. Most teams track the first and skip the second, then wonder why fast replies still lose customers.
TLDR: Measure first reply time, threads left open past your limit, reassignments, lead-to-reply time and a quality score from a 10-thread sample. Pick an inbox that lets you assign, tag and export, because a metric you cannot pull is a metric you will not track.
Mydrop pricing check, September 2026: the entry paid plans of the eight tools most often compared with Mydrop run from $6 per channel (Buffer) and $25 a month (Later) to $99 per user (Hootsuite) and $79 per seat (Sprout Social), read on each vendor's pricing page. Mydrop is free to start, then $19 a month flat, not per seat. Full table on Mydrop's compare pages.
The price check above matters here for one reason: an inbox is a team tool, so a per-seat price rises with every person you add to answer messages. Weigh that up before you pick.
The five numbers, with the question each answers
| Metric | Question it answers | How to get it |
|---|---|---|
| First reply time | How long does a person wait? | Message time to first reply, by message type |
| Open past limit | What did we forget? | Count threads older than your limit, daily |
| Reassignments | Do threads bounce between people? | Threads with more than one owner change |
| Lead to reply | Are sales questions answered first? | Lead-tagged threads only |
| Quality score | Were replies right and on-brand? | The weekly 10-thread read |
Set your own limits. We do not quote a universal benchmark because a bakery and a software company face different expectations. Write your numbers down, then compare against your own last four weeks.
The weekly 10-thread read, step by step
Every Friday, pick 10 closed threads at random: 5 from last week's busiest day and 5 from the rest. Score each from 0 to 2 on three questions:
- Accurate: was the answer correct and complete?
- On-brand: does it sound like your company?
- Next step: did the customer know what happens next?
A perfect thread scores 6. Add them up. Anything under 45 out of 60 means a coaching conversation, and the thread examples make that conversation easy because nobody argues with the text.
Don't use the score to rank people. Use it to find the type of message that keeps going wrong, then fix the template or rule behind it.
What your inbox tool has to give you
You cannot run this process in a tool that mixes every message into one pile. Look for:
- A named owner on every thread, so "who has this?" never needs asking.
- Status and priority, so open past limit is a filter, not a search.
- Tags for lead, complaint, question, praise and noise.
- Internal notes, so context survives a handover.
- Exportable history, so you can build the numbers in a sheet if the tool does not show them.
Our guide on assigning inbox threads to prevent delays covers the ownership rules in detail.
How Mydrop's inbox supports it
The Mydrop social inbox puts comments, DMs and mentions from every connected profile in one queue. Each conversation can have an owner, a status, a priority, tags and internal notes, and you can export to CSV, which gives you the raw material for first reply time and open-past-limit counts in a spreadsheet.
Message intent is tagged automatically as lead, complaint, question, praise or noise through comment moderation, so the lead-to-reply number is a filter. When AI drafts a reply, it uses your brand voice and a person checks and sends it. That makes the quality score about your edits, not about trusting a bot.
Fix the pattern, not the person
Run the review for a month. You will usually find one or two patterns: a question that gets three different answers, or a complaint type that always misses a next step.
Fix those with a saved template or an auto-reply rule, and score the same pattern again in two weeks. Our post on why response times lag lists the usual causes when the speed numbers are the problem.
Next step: pick 10 closed threads from last week and score them today. Then start free with Mydrop and connect one profile to see ownership, tags and export on real messages.
